Questions & answers
Everything you need to know.
Questions about the portrait, the files, the process, or the guarantee — answered here.
The portrait
What photo works best?
A clear, front-facing photo with good natural lighting. Your phone camera is perfect — iPhone, Android, any modern device. We accept JPEG, PNG, and HEIC. Eyes should be clearly visible, and avoid heavy shadows or backlighting. You don't need professional photography — the clearest photo you have of your pet is the right one.
What if the likeness isn't right?
Every portrait is reviewed by our team before it ever reaches you. We check the likeness against your photo, the style quality, and the overall result. If anything isn't right, we regenerate — no questions asked. You only receive our best. This is our standard, not an exception.
What artistic styles are available?
We offer three styles: Dutch Master Oil (rich impasto texture, dramatic chiaroscuro lighting), Ethereal Watercolour (transparent pigments on cold-press paper with confident ink line work), and Compressed Charcoal (classic graphite drama on textured paper). Each is built on the vocabulary of a real artistic tradition — not a filter.
Can you do cats, birds, and other pets — not just dogs?
Yes. We work with any pet: dogs, cats, rabbits, birds, horses, guinea pigs — any animal with a face worth capturing. The clearer your photo, the stronger the likeness regardless of species.
Can I commission a portrait of more than one pet?
At the moment, each commission is a single-pet portrait. If your photo clearly features one pet as the subject, that's the portrait we create. Multi-pet portraits are on our roadmap — stay tuned.
Print sizes & files
What files do I receive?
Two files: a high-resolution digital master (JPEG) and a print-ready file at your chosen size (300 DPI). Both are delivered to your inbox. The digital master is sized for screens and social sharing. The print file is sized for your chosen print dimensions and ready for any print shop or home printer.
What print sizes are available?
Three sizes: 8×10 inches, 11×14 inches, and 16×20 inches. All at 300 DPI — the professional standard for print. An 8×10 at 300 DPI prints crisply at standard photo size. A 16×20 at 300 DPI is a statement piece fit for a gallery wall.
Can I print it myself?
Yes. The print-ready file works at any print shop (FedEx Office, Walgreens, Costco, local print studios) or online printing service (Artifact Uprising, Mpix, Printful). Standard photo paper or fine art paper both produce beautiful results. We recommend a matte or lustre finish for the most gallery-like look.
Can I use the portrait commercially or on merchandise?
Your portrait is for personal use — framing, gifting, and personal sharing. If you'd like to use it commercially (merchandise, resale, licensing), please contact us to discuss terms.
Invitations
What appears on the invitation card?
Your pet's portrait in your chosen style, their name, the persona title you selected (e.g. The Radiant Soul), your event date, time, and location — all woven into the card artwork by the artist. The text is part of the design, not an overlay.
What files do I receive for an invitation?
Two files: a high-resolution digital master (JPEG) for sharing digitally, and a print-ready 5×7 PDF at 300 DPI for printing. Both delivered to your inbox within 48 hours.
What size is the invitation?
Standard 5×7 inches at 300 DPI. This is the most widely supported invitation size — any print shop or online printing service can print it. Standard 5×7 photo paper or card stock both work beautifully.
Can I change the event details after ordering?
Not after the commission is processed, so please double-check your date, time, and location before completing checkout. If you notice an error immediately after ordering, contact us as soon as possible and we'll try to catch it before processing begins.
Ordering & delivery
How long does delivery take?
48 hours from the time your order is placed. Our team reviews every portrait before delivery, so occasionally a complex commission may take a little longer — but 48 hours is our standard turnaround and we hold ourselves to it.
How is the portrait delivered?
By email. You'll receive a message with download links for your files. The files are hosted securely and available to download as many times as you need. No physical product is shipped — this is a digital commission.
What payment methods do you accept?
All major credit and debit cards via Stripe — Visa, Mastercard, American Express, and more. Stripe is the same secure payment system used by millions of businesses worldwide. We never see or store your card details.
Can I get a refund?
Because each portrait is a bespoke digital commission created specifically for your pet, we don't offer refunds after processing begins. What we do offer is our regeneration guarantee — if the likeness or quality isn't right when we review it, we redo it before delivery. You only receive a portrait we're proud of.
